TAWG: Spending Time Alone With God

If you spend any time around The Navigators, you’ll probably hear the phrase “TAWG” (short for Time Alone With God.)

But what does that actually mean?

A Time Alone With God is exactly what it sounds like: taking intentional time out of your day to be with God, to slow down, be present, and connect with Him through Scripture, prayer, and worship.

It doesn’t have to be long. It doesn’t have to be complicated. It’s about relationship! Not sure where to start? Here are some of our favorite tips and some suggested reading plans:

Find a space:

Before beginning your TAWG you need to find a good spot! Find a spot where you won’t get distracted

Pray:

When you begin your time alone with God, start with a prayer. Prayer is just talking with God. The prayer can be as simple as “Dear God, meet me here and help me to understand your Word (the Bible)”.

Read:

Open up your Bible and read it! As you read, ask what does this teach me about God and what am I supposed to do about it?

Pray (again):

End your time in prayer, thank God for what He has taught you through His Word, praise Him for what you have learned about Him, and ask God to help you to apply His Word to your life.
